Offer a piece of living heritage

This form records a contribution to the FirstCiv archive — a song, dance, story, craft or language recording, together with a written consent record from the community it belongs to.

What happens next — honestly
  • A person reviews every submission. Nothing is published automatically, and no AI decides publication.
  • We verify the consent record with the community representative before anything can be approved.
  • Until then your contribution stays private. The default is restrictive: when in doubt, we do not publish.
  • Consent is revocable — the community can withdraw the contribution at any time, including after publication.

1 · The contribution

A short, human title — e.g. “Lullaby of the spring migration”.
Used only to contact you about this contribution.
Performers, elders, recordists — everyone who should be credited.
Context that helps the reviewer: occasion, meaning, restrictions we should know about.
One file in this version — audio, video or image, up to 200 MB. Recordings over 3.5 MB are sent directly from your browser to storage when you submit, with a progress bar. If you have several files, submit the main one and describe the rest in the note: the reviewer will contact you at the email you gave above to arrange the transfer.

2 · Community consent

FirstCiv publishes nothing without a consent record from the community the material belongs to. This section is that record. It will be verified by a human reviewer before approval.

E.g. elder, culture bearer, association chair.
Community-restricted: Viewable in the archive only, under the conditions the community sets. The most protective option, and the default we recommend.
CC BY-SA: Others may share and adapt it with credit, and must pass the same freedom on.
CC BY: Others may share and adapt it, provided the community is credited.
CC0 — public domain: No rights reserved. Choose this only if the community explicitly wants the recording free for any use.
Permitted uses
Please adapt the template in the representative’s own words — at minimum, replace the [bracketed] placeholders. An unedited template will not be accepted. This is a serious record — it is what our reviewers verify.

Submitting places the contribution in a private review queue. It does not publish anything.
